México
Operating under our Manufacturing Services Program removes all of the bureaucratic workload involved in a Maquiladora start-up. Am-Mex provides the facility, staffing, training, equipment installation and coordination of the functions required when operating a business in Mexico.
Under this Contract Manufacturing agreement, the client provides the raw material, process equipment, engineering and quality specifications. The involvement of the client in the operation can range from periodic visits to on-site representation, depending on the customers desired level of involvement. Over half of Am-Mex’s manufacturing projects are for the automotive industry. We have experience in plating, welding, injection molding, circuit board, remanufacturing, repackaging, and light assembly projects.
Under this type of arrangement, a rate per labor hour is quoted, normally based on a minimum thirty six month commitment by the contracting client company (customer).
United States
Am-Mex Products, Inc offers manufacturing services in our facility located on the U.S. side of the border in Mcallen, Texas. This operation focuses on machine intensive manufacturing due to the high cost of facilities, utilities and industrial infrastructure in Mexico. Cost of land in industrial parks, as well as the facilities themselves, are much more costly in Mexico than they are in the United States. As a result, it is more cost effective to run large machines requiring few operators (or automated machinery) on the U.S. side. A twin plant concept with a capital/machine intensive operation producing components (or subassemblies) on the U.S. side which are consumed by direct labor assembly lines in Reynosa can be very effective. Our U.S. facility has enough floor space dedicated to warehousing, distribution, packaging and manufacturing services. We coordinate imports and exports. We also offer third party manufacturing, materials procurement, logistics services (3PL) and temporary help solutions.
Management
This division of Am-Mex Products, Inc (Am-Mex Productos Internacional S. de R.L de C.V
) provides companies with all the general and administrative support necessary to assist the client in their wholly owned Maquiladora. This allows our client to manage production and quality directly while Am-Mex Products, Inc handles the general and administrative functions.
Key areas of support include, but are not limited to establishing and maintaining entity, human resource management, recruitment and union negotiations. Other services include accounting, treasury cycle, import/export, customs, regulatory, governmental, environmental compliance, financial reporting, payroll, site selection and construction, and plant relocation.
For a flat monthly fee, Am-Mex will actually locate a team of our own experienced employees within your facility to manage activities such as accounting services or import/export, just to name a few. This is more than a consulting service, it is a hands on involvement within your daily operations that handles any and all legal, political, and social obstacles that companies must comply with in order to manufacture in Mexico.
We also provide stand alone Mexican corporations with general and administrative support via our existing, proven network.
Training
Am-Mex has gratifying success stories in its activities in Mexico. We attribute this to the training given to its people and the tremendous response it has received from all levels of employees towards training programs. Mexico has excellent technical schools and its colleges produce first-rate graduates, but its work force is, for the most part, very young and has not had the benefits of hands-on experience that most American companies can draw upon. Am-Mex beliefs that training is the key to develop those skills required by your company is the most inexpensive insurance to guarantee your company’s success in Mexico.
To satisfy the needs of companies requiring training to better qualify their work force (and indirect employees), Am-Mex has developed several
training programs in different areas to facilitate the process. Am-Mex can assist in implementing and maintaining Quality Systems such as ISO, QS, TS, etc. We can even translate your existing programs into Spanish, to aid the transfer of your previously developed technology.
Maintenance
Am-Mex has a centrally located maintenance department among our shelter operations. This department can assist in moving or setting up machines, lines, and even whole projects. We currently have 3 manufacturing facilities in Mexico as well as our U.S. Operation.
When a customer requires more capacity, this department can relocate lines, injection molding machines, conveyors, paint booths, etc. This group of technicians can run new electrical drops, modify the air loop, or even maintain specialty equipment such as automated wire harness cutting machines. Am-Mex prides itself on housekeeping, which is also managed through this department.
Warehouse, Packaging, Distribution, 3PL & FTZ
Am-Mex Products, Inc currently has U.S. space dedicated to warehousing, distribution and packaging services. We handle all import and export coordination, third-party verification of south bound shipments, distribution, stores and packaging. We offer third party material and logistics services (3PL). Each of our plants has an ATM machine that reads our time and attendance badges carried by each employee. Between our payroll system and the ATM machines, our Payroll and HR departments receive reports regarding time and attendance while simultaneously handling and distributing payroll funds. These real time transactions and reporting provide efficient HR and Payroll management. This also provides our employees with the benefits of full service banking inside our facilities.
